HOPE

Finding light in

times of darkness.

Why Counselling

When life becomes challenging in one way or another, counselling may be helpful. Counselling may enable you to have the space you need to explore difficult emotions, thoughts and feelings. At times, it is found to be helpful to discuss challenges outside of family and friendship groups. Counselling at MY Counselling is non judgemental, empathic and kind. It is a place where you may learn more about yourself and how and why you may act or react in certain situations. My hope for all clients is that they gain greater self awarness, increased peace and hope for their future, alongside strategies to enable each individual to cope in their specific circumstance.

An Introduction

I would like to introduce myself to those looking at my website, I am Mel Young, a wife, mother, daughter and grandmother. Life has not always been straight forward and I have experienced the benefits of counselling first hand. I am a qualified integrative counsellor gaining my degree from Middlesex University. I studied at Waverley Abbey College using the Waverley Integrative Framework in my work with clients. This holistic framework enables me to look at the physical, emotional, behavioural, thinking and spiritual aspects of persons issues as they so desire.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and currently studying with Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Academy (CPTA) to complete a level 6 supervisory qualification.

What is Counselling

You may initially feel anxious about the thought of engaging with counselling, this is natural and I will try to help you feel at ease during the sessions.

Underlying all my practice, is a person centred approach. However, I employ a variety of ways of working during sessions dependant on what suits you the most and the nature of the challenge you are facing.

Sessions are typically weekly and run for a therapeutic hour which is 50mins. Initial assessments are 85mins.

Sessions are conducted via an online platform such as zoom or via telephone. However, in person sessions may be available if needed.

Sessions can be booked in a block or booked individually. I offer a limited number of reduced rate sessions to counselling students.
